Her love for the written word stemmed from her art and writing classes during her school years. In spite of all the obstacles, they provided Alexis with a safe haven of self-expression, a source of light in the darkest moments of her adolescence.
Writing became her shining beacon of hope; it was a coping mechanism that helped Alexis to navigate through her troubled childhood. Pain, anger, sadness, and fear all found a release through her written words, and gradually, she began to see her light at the end of the tunnel.
